The Cross

The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear."

The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear its weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door and pick out any cross you wish."

The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told.

Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses; some so large the tops were not visible. Then, he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered.

The Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in."

When life's problems seem overwhelming, it helps to look around and see what other people are coping with. You may consider yourself far more fortunate than you imagined.

Be encouraged and know that you are blessed. If you have air in your lungs and did not see your name in the obituary this morning, then rejoice in the Lord and be exceedingly glad. Let the Joy of the Lord be your strength and with all of your being sing praises unto Him.

Repeat these words after me:
God is on my side so whom shall I fear. I will not worry about anything because God has promised to make me the head and not the tail. By the Authority of God's Word I will have every need met according to God's promise. I walk by faith and not by sight, so every obstacle will be removed in Christ's Holy Name. Amen.
(Psalm 118:6) (Deuteronomy 28:13) (2 Corinthians 5:7)
